Stoke City lost 3-2 at home to Blackburn Rovers Saturday.
Some Stoke City supporters have taken to Twitter to question manager Gary Rowett after their club’s latest 3-2 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers, which leaves the side languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table.
The Potters were one of the favourites for Championship promotion this season, with parachute payments giving them a big budget on top of Premier League quality within the squad.
Rowett has spent big on players such as Tom Ince, Benik Afobe, Sam Clucas and James McClean, but so far things just haven’t worked out with the Blackburn defeat making it just two wins from nine Championship games.
Posting on Twitter after the game, some supporters are already making Rowett feel the heat.
Goals from Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Harrison Reed gave Rovers a 3-0 lead, reminiscent of the previous home defeat to Wigan Athletic which then questions over Rowett’s strategy.
Stoke rallied late through Sadio Berahino and Tom Ince to give them hope, but it was a matter of too little, too late and a fourth Championship defeat in nine games leaves the midlands club seven points shy of the top six.
Stoke’s average of 11.2 shots per game is the 18th lowest in the league, while Rowett’s side rank 19th for dribbles per game with just 6.1 (Whoscored), suggesting their current lowly position is justified.
Rowett has enjoyed success in his career at Burton Albion, Birmingham City and Derby County, but expectations at Stoke are much higher right now, and he is under pressure to quickly turn things around.
