Former Derby County manager Steve McClaren has praised, Fulham, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Former Derby County manager Steve McClaren has told reporters for Getwestlondon that only three Championship teams play great football and that Fulham currently top the bill.
The Cottagers sit third in the Championship table, seven points behind automatic promotion rivals Cardiff City having played a game more.
The Bluebirds’ game in hand is against a Derby side vying for the play-offs, and the Rams still boast a number of players who played under McClaren before he was replaced by current manager Gary Rowett.
During his first spell in charge of the Rams, many considered the East Midlands club as one of the most entertaining outside the Premier League as they finished the 2013/14 campaign as top scorers.
But over the past two seasons, Derby have gone in a different direction and McClaren no longer considers them as a top footballing side, instead citing Wolves, Brentford and Fulham as the Championship’s only bona fide entertainers.
“We talk about three teams that play great football, Wolves, Fulham and Brentford and Fulham are my favourite team, they have been for the last two or three seasons,” McClaren explained.
“They play great football and when they’re on song they’re really flowing. I love watching them play.”
McClaren’s comments will come as little surprise to Derby fans as, following the 0-0 draw with Bristol City back in January, the former England manager suggested the Rams no longer play entertaining football.
Fulham, meanwhile, have gone from strength to strength under Slavisa Jokanovic and the West London side currently preside over an impressive run of ten league wins in their last 13 games.
They have claimed wins over Wolves, Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby over the past six weeks, prompting many to label them as favourites to earn promotion through the play-offs.
