Celtic fans have taken to Twitter in order to plead with Moussa Dembele to extend his stay at the club, following the striker’s popular message amid the treble celebrations.

The Hoops beat Motherwell 2-0 in the final of the Scottish Cup to complete an unprecedented double treble, sparking emotional celebrations among both the players and Celtic’s supporters.

Dembele has been such a pivotal figure for the club during Brendan Rodgers’ reign, topping the club’s scoring charts during his first season and grabbing a further 16 goals this term – despite suffering injury setbacks.

In the aftermath of Celtic’s Scottish Cup final victory, the former France U21 international took to Twitter to thank the supporters for their incredible support before labelling the club as special.

Dembele’s success north of the border since his move from Fulham will have no doubt alerted several Premier League clubs, and his current contract situation means the Hoops could soon be in a tricky spot.

The 21-year-old’s deal at Celtic Park expires in 2020, meaning with two years left on his deal, the club must be looking at offering him a new deal this summer or risk seeing his price tag drop over the next 12 months.

Another option could be for the Scottish Premiership champions to cash in on him now, but with the player having so much potential, they must surely do their utmost to tie him down to a longer deal and later sell him on when his value increases further.

Responding to his message on Twitter, Celtic fans evidently want to see their leading striker remain at the club for the long haul, with some pleading with the former Fulham man to sign on for at least the next five years.
