Norwich City host Nottingham Forest in what should be an intriguing encounter on Boxing Day.

Eastern Daily Press reports that Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has said that his side are ready to push on against Boxing Day opponents Nottingham Forest, despite the Reds arriving at Carrow Road with a more expensively-assembled squad.

“We know how strong Nottingham (Forest) is. They have more financial opportunities, like Derby, to bring players in and to add quality. Nottingham spent more during the summer than Wolves did the previous summer,” Farke explained.

“We are totally respectful and know they are big favourites for promotion. But we are above them both and we want to go further on.”

Daniel Farke’s side are currently second in the league table, 12 points clear of Forest who are in seventh – three points shy of the playoffs.

The Canaries won the previous encounter against the Reds at the City Ground 2-1, and they’ve since gone another ten games without defeat – winning eight of them.

Norwich’s success has been built on the introduction of young players such as Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell and Jamal Lewis, while they’ve clearly done their homework on the scouting front with Teemu Pukki, Emiliano Buendia and Moritz Leitner all joining the club on the cheap and making significant contributions.

Forest, meanwhile, spent £25 million on 13 new players in the summer (Nottingham Post). Manager Aitor Karanka seemingly still has the backing from everyone at the City Ground, but their first half of the campaign has been somewhat underwhelming, drawing more games (11) than they have won (8).
