Controversial Spanish newspaper AS claim that Arsenal star Santi Cazorla would love to move to Atletico Madrid.

Every summer, whilst most Arsenal fans are drawing up their lists of potential targets, boss Arsene Wenger has another tough job of keeping hold of his top players.

Stars such as Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie are a number of key first-team players who have departed the club in recent years, and Bacary Sagna is close to joining that list.

Whilst the French international fullback’s future has been in doubt for some time, the Gunners could be embraced with another disappointing exit as attacking midfielder Santi Cazorla has also been linked with an Arsenal exit.

Recent rumours in the English press claim that Atletico Madrid are keen on bringing in the Spanish international, with a reported fee of €20million being branded about.

The recent rise of Atletico Madrid as one of Europe’s finest clubs makes the Madrid outfit an interesting proposition, and according to the Spanish newspaper AS, Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla would love to make the move to the La Liga champions.

The paper go on to say that the directors of the Spanish club can count on the 29-year-old joining them at the Vicente Calderon stadium, yet the biggest obstacle in a potential move is economical.

Santi Cazorla has a contract until 2016, and he is largely seen as an important first-team player at the Emirates Stadium. However, given his age, a potential €20million offer could be too hard to turn down, especially if his heart is set elsewhere.

Since joining the club, Santi Cazorla has made 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and helping the team end their nine-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup last season.
