Spanish paper reports bizarre reason Real Madrid won’t sign Tottenham’s Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane has been linked with Real Madrid.

According to a report in the Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid have walked away from their interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane over fears the striker is too introverted off the field.

The Spanish giants are seemingly in the market for a top centre-forward this summer, perhaps as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo or for the time being to provide competition to Karim Benzema.

The two names which have seemingly topped the list for Madrid are Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Tottenham’s Kane, and fresh reports claim the latter may no longer be in the running.

Despite the England international’s excellent campaign for Spurs, where he has scored 24 Premier League goals thus far, in the eyes of the Spanish media it appears he is not quite a big hit off the pitch.

Kane comes across as a very down-to-earth person, one who rarely ends up on the front cover of magazines or in other sections of the media for non-football related occasions unlike say Portuguese superstar Ronaldo.

As such, Madrid are said to feel that the striker, who currently earns £100,000-per-week as per Spotrac, is too introverted, almost not Galactico enough to adapt to the Spanish lifestyle off the pitch which then could have an impact on his contributions on the pitch.

Lewandowski, on the flip side, is seen as a bigger character than Kane and as a result, he may be a more marketable player to the club’s millions of supporters which of course has its financial benefits.

Tottenham have in recent history sold their top players to the La Liga giants, with Luka Modric and Wales international Gareth Bale currently plying their trade at the Santiago Bernabeu.

While those two are relatively quiet figures, both are not considered leading figures at the club whereas a striker or expected top goal scorer will certainly draw more media attention and spend more time in the limelight.

Having had Raul and now Ronaldo, Madrid will be looking for another superstar to spearhead their attack not only on the pitch but also in the changing rooms, around the training centre and in-front of the media.
