Norwich City supporters have taken to Twitter to mull over the prospect of Nelson Oliveira returning to the first-team, after he netted twice in the U23 side’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.

The Portuguese striker has been cast aside this season, with manager Daniel Farke seemingly doesn’t see him as part of his first-team plans this season.

But nobody can deny the former Nottingham Forest striker’s talent at Championship level, and bringing him back into the starting eleven could strengthen Norwich’s chances of pushing for a top six spot.

Norwich City supporters are torn on the idea, however:

Oliveira’s first against Newcastle came via a clinical strike from the edge of the box, while his winner was a top-drawer header from an Ivo Pinto cross.

The 27-year-old was said to be the subject of an £8 million bid from Derby County last January (HITC), but ultimately a deal couldn’t be reached and the Rams instead signed fellow Norwich man Cameron Jerome.

Norwich supporters may feel with Oliveira back in the fold they have greater power upfront, yet his presence could have a negative impact on fellow striker Teemu Pukki – who has really found some form of late.

The Canaries travel to Queens Park Rangers this weekend, looking to maintain their good form after recording back-to-back wins over Middlesbrough and Reading.
