Nottingham Forest’s Joe Lolley has been superb since joining from Huddersfield Town.
Nottingham Forest supporters have taken to Twitter to question why Huddersfield Town sold them Joe Lolley, when he is turning out to be one of their better players right now.
The Reds extended their recent good run of form by beating manager Aitor Karanka’s former side Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Riverside Stadium Saturday, handing the hosts their first home defeat of the season.
Lolley was instrumental throughout, grabbing the first goal of the game before making the assist for Lewis Grabban’s late goal, which secured all three points for the east Midlands club.
Aside from his goal and assist, Lolley contributed with five shots, three key passes and five successful dribbles (Whoscored), and Nottingham Forest supporters can’t quite believe why Huddersfield allowed him to leave.
The Nottingham Forest attacking player has goals and assists in his game, while his creative and dribbling ability regularly opens up space for his fellow attacking teammates to exploit.
With Huddersfield struggling in the Premier League – having scored just a mere four goals from eight games thus far – it begs the question why the Terriers didn’t give Lolley more opportunities to shine.
Lolley signed for Forest on deadline day last January, with Terriers boss David Wagner explaining he was happy for the player to move on after requesting a move (Nottingham Post), and has consistently been one of their better performers this season – helping the Reds climb the table into a playoff position.
Aitor Karanka’s side spent plenty of money in the summer what with Joao Carvalho arriving for club record £13.2 million transfer fee (BBC), but for all the money spent Lolley is an example of how quality can be found out of favour elsewhere.
