Nottingham Forest have appointed Martin O’Neill as manager.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has suggested that Nottingham Forest have made an error appointing Martin O’Neill while citing the East Midlands side a fabulous club, Talksport report.
“I look at Martin O’Neill and Forest and say this is a club that needs to get back to the Premier League, and is sentiment and the ideals of owners that don’t understand the dynamics of the football club really making the right decisions about the way to go forward,” Jordan explained to Talksport.
“Ask the Sunderland fans what they felt about the end of Martin O’Nell’s tenure. With respect to Martin, who I have met on many occasions, I feel he is a busted flush. But I’d like to see Forest back in the Premier League because it’s a fabulous club.”
Forest have confirmed the appointment of Martin O’Neill, with the former Sunderland manager replacing Aitor Karanka who stepped down in charge after just one year at the City Ground.
O’Neill’s most recent management duty was with the Republic of Ireland national side, who he led to the European Championships in 2016.
The 66-year-old played for Forest for a decade in the 70s, and his popularity among supporters has remained having had a successful managerial career to date.

But O’Neill hasn’t managed at club level for the best part of six years, with his last job at Sunderland a far cry from the success he achieved at former clubs Leicester City and Celtic.
Forest gambled by bringing back City Ground legend Stuart Pearce on 2014, but a run of just three wins in 21 games saw him dismissed nine months later.
The pressure will be on O’Neill to steer Forest to the Championship playoffs after their heavy summer spending, with the East Midlands side currently four points adrift of sixth place and dearest rivals Derby county.
