Wolverhampton Wanderers are clearly intent on making an impression in the Premier League.
According to a report by The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be keen on a move for Barcelona ace Andre Gomes – a player who certainly highlights their lofty ambitions.
The west Midlands side romped to the Championship title last season, utilising their connection with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes to acquire several players who were seemingly out of reach for the rest of the league.
What Wolves have done is incredibly smart, as they’ve not only put themselves in a really strong position to make a mark in the top-flight – they’ve also purchased players with a great amount of potential.
Keeping the likes of Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves for the foreseeable future can give them the platform to establish themselves as a top Premier League club in the relatively short-term.
Andre Gomes may not have had the best of times at Barcelona following his big-money move from Valencia, but there is no doubt he has plenty of ability and Wolves signing him would be a real coup. The 24-year-old only made six La Liga starts last term, and disappointingly missed out on a place in Portugal’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Gomes may feel a move away from the Nou Camp could reignite his career, and joining his fellow compatriots Neves, Jota and Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santos could make plenty of sense.
