Former player Paul Scholes believes Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has set his sights too low by joining Bournemouth and believes he instead should have gone abroad, Sky Sports report.
Wilshere became one of the main headliners on deadline day as he opted to trade the Gunners for lowly Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal in order to gain regular first-team football.
The England international has barely played club football for the past two seasons, largely as a result of lengthy spells on the sidelines with injury and heavy competition for places at the Emirates.

A switch to Bournemouth could be exactly what Wilshere needs in order to reboot his career, yet former player Scholes is dubious and questions why the midfielder hasn’t tried his luck aborad.
I would have liked to have seen him, if he did have to leave Arsenal, go to a big club like Roma. Get some experience abroad, I think that would have been great for him,” Scholes told Sky Sports.
“Just because he is going to Bournemouth, doesn’t mean he is going to play all the time.”

“If he stays fit then there is no doubt he is the top player there. But he should be playing for a top three or four club in England and that is what he should be aiming for. I just worry a little that he has set his sights too low.”
Bournemouth’s well-documented attacking style of play will no doubt suit Wilshere, yet by playing in a relegation-threatened side it will be interesting to see of Eddie Howe sticks to his principles.
Wilshere, 24, has not played more than 25 league games in a season since the 2010-11 campaign and for all his talent, Arsenal supporters will just want to see him have an injury-free run on the south coast.
