Steven Gerrard has agreed to become the next manager of Glasgow Rangers.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes Steven Gerrard will apply professionalism and quality when asked what type of football Rangers will play under his guidance, Sky Sports report.
The former Liverpool skipper has agreed a four-year deal to become the next manager of Rangers this summer, replacing Graeme Murty who was placed in temporary charge following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.
Gerrard has little managerial experience having only coached the Liverpool U18 side since his retirement, but Rangers are gambling on his popularity and esteem as a once world class midfielder to help change their fortunes.

The 37-year-old played under a host of top managers at Liverpool, including Celtic boss Rodgers, and the current Hoops boss has responded when asked what type of football Rangers fans can expect from Gerrard.
“As a guy he was ultra-professional, had incredible quality as a footballer,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.
“That level of professionalism that he’s had all his career, that is what made him the great player he was.”
“I’m sure he will take those attributes into his management. Only over time will you see the identity of his teams and how they want to play. It will be something he’ll look to impose on his team.”

Rangers fans have had to endure watching their rivals dominate Scottish football in recent years, and 4-0 and 5-0 defeats to Celtic over the past three weeks has certainly prompted drastic action and a change in direction.
Gerrard was a quality midfielder capable of rivalling any other in world football on his day but transferring that knowledge and ability on to his players on the training pitch is an entirely different matter.
He played under Rafa Benitez and worked under Jurgen Klopp, the former lifting the Champions League title with Liverpool in 2005 and the latter reaching the final this season, therefore Gerrard has plenty of coaching material to work with.
Rangers fans will be hopeful of seeing plenty of aggression, energy and work-rate reminiscent of a Steven Gerrard in his prime, but only time will tell as to whether he can be the man to stop Celtic’s stranglehold on Scottish football.
