Celtic ace Ewan Henderson made his debut against Kilmarnock.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers says it will be nice to see Ewan Henderson develop at the club as he labels the prospect a very good young player following his debut for the club, Herald Scotland report.
The 18-year-old midfielder had been a star for the club’s academy side and featured in the UEFA Youth League with an older age group during 2017.
He has been tipped for big things at Celtic Park, and with the Scottish Premiership title wrapped up, Rodgers decided to hand the midfielder his debut in the 0-0 midweek draw with Kilmarnock.
Speaking to reporters in the aftermath of the encounter, Rodgers cited the youngster’s introduction as a major plus from an otherwise quiet evening and believes Henderson has the tools to become a top player for the club.
“Young Ewan Henderson is a very good young player. He’s very bright. He can handle the ball and take it in. He showed good personality when he came on. He’s a boy who has a good future. It will be nice to see him develop,” the former Liverpool manager told Herald Scotland.
Rodgers is an excellent coach and aside from his ability to help Celtic dominate on the trophy front, he is keen to help the club grow and utilise its academy to give young players the opportunity to progress.
Henderson, the younger brother of Bari ace Liam, is predominantly a midfield player though he has shown versatility during his development and is seemingly capable of filling in several roles.
It will be interesting to see whether he can establish himself as a senior in Celtic’s squad amid strong competition for places, but Rodgers’ comments suggest he is looking forward to getting him more involved.
