Crystal Palace lost 4-2 at home to Liverpool this weekend.

Former player and current pundit Rio Ferdinand praised Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha despite his side going down 4-2 to Premier League title challengers Liverpool at Selhurst Park.

The Reds ran out 4-2 winners as they found the net through Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino, but it was not as if Palace just rolled over and conceded defeat.

The Eagles pressed Liverpool all the way, and especially in an attacking sense there were many positives for Alan Pardew to mull over at the final whistle despite watching a third straight defeat for his men.

Taking to social media site Twitter, Rio Ferdinand was particularly impressed with his former Manchester United teammate Zaha as he looked to get on the ball and make things happen for the hosts.

Zaha has always possessed plenty of raw ability, hence why Sir Alex Ferguson signed him while managing Manchester United, yet consistency has long been a problem for the winger.

This season, the 23-year-old is showing signs of maturity in terms of decision-making and general impact, posting three assists in eight matches, which is already more than last year.

Zaha’s current pass-accuracy rate of 79.9% per league match this season is his best ever average, while his average of 1.4 key passes, 1.4 shots on goal and 4.6 successful take-ons per match is also favourable compared to previous campaigns.

With Yannick Bolasie no longer at Palace, many supporters will be looking at Zaha to fill the void left by the DR Congo international and that added resposnsibility may help him become a better player.
