West Bromwich Albion have been linked with Mario Lemina.
According to the Birmingham Mail, West Bromwich Albion have pulled out of the race to sign Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina after refusing to meet their £15 million asking price.
The report claims that the talented midfielder is considering his options in Turin after struggling to break in to the first-team, yet Juventus seemingly aren’t willing to let him go on the cheap.
West Brom have been extremely quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, with Matt Phillips their only purchase following his arrival from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
Boss Tony Pulis will be hoping to consolidate his side in a safe midtable position this coming season, yet without new signings they are in danger of being left behind by their more ambitious rivals.
The report names West Ham United’s Diafra Sakho as the club’s top target, and it appears they are only willing to spend big fees on players who have Premier League experience.
Lemina, 22, joined Juventus initially on loan from Marseille last summer and now his deal in Turn has been made permanent.
Despite not playing too many games last season, the Gabon international has quality in abundance and he was trusted enough to start the Coppa Italia final in May, with Juve defeated AC Milan 1-0 after extra time.
With his whole career ahead of him, Lemina has the potential to become a top player. However, as per the report in the Birmingham Mail, that isn’t enough to tempt West Brom in to spending big for his services.
