Manchester United have been linked with Southampton’s Jose Fonte.

According to the Sun, Manchester United must sell a player before striking a deal for Southampton’s Jose Fonte.
The report claims that the Portuguese centre-back remains a key target for United boss Jose Mourinho, yet in order to land the player in a £10 million deal he must trim his squad first.
United strengthened during the summer with the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Paul Pobga but they could not finalise a deal for reported target Fonte.

The 32-year-old has been a loyal servant for the Saints, helping the club to promotion from the Championship before playing a key role in the club establishing themselves as a solid top flight side.
While a number of his former teammates have moved on to bigger clubs, Fonte has stuck around at St. Mary’s and after numerous years at the club nobody could begrudge him a switch to Old Trafford.

However, before any potential deal, the Sun states that a United player must be sold first and the report names Argentine defender Marcos Rojo as the most likely contender.
The former Sporting Lisbon man is very much out of favour with United boss Mourinho, although his subdued performances for the Red Devils may see them struggle to find a suitor.
