Sheffield United’s Kieron Freeman and Enda Stevens have both impressed this season.
According to a report in the Sheffield Star, Sheffield United will look to tie down Kieron Freeman and Enda Stevens to new contracts in the coming months.
The two players are approaching the final 18 months of their current deals and a failure to secure their long-term future at Bramall Lane could place the club in a disadvantageous position next summer.
Freeman, a former Nottingham Forest academy product, joined the Blades from fellow east Midlands club Derby County in 2015 and he played a key role in the club’s League One title-winning campaign.
The 26-year-old has remained a consistent performer following the club’s promotion to the Championship, and this season he has made nine Championship starts, scoring once and providing two assists.
Stevens, 28, joined United in the summer of 2017 from Portsmouth and he has also consolidated himself as a first-team regular, starting 11 Championship games this term.
The Republic of Ireland international is capable of playing both at left-back and left midfield, grabbing three assist this term, and his versatility makes him an important figure for Chris Wilder’s men.
With United topping the Championship table, Wilder will be keen to keep spirits in the camp high and in offering the duo new deals before January it displays a sign of loyalty and reward for their efforts.
Both players still have plenty to offer the Yorkshire club with the potential to improve further.
