Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been linked with Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi.
According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Sevilla are holding out for a whopping £31 million for reported Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur midfield target Steven N’Zonzi this summer.
It is said in the report that the player has a £36 million release clause, with £5 million owed to the player. Sevilla are willing to accept less, but only on the basis that the player relinquishes his share of the fee.
The French midfielder has been a huge success with Sevilla, helping the La Liga club win the 2015-16 Europa League title following an indifferent spell in the Premier League with Stoke City.
Newly-appointed Arsenal boss Unai Emery knows the players well following his spell as Sevilla manager, and the Gunners are in need of bolstering their midfield ranks with Jack Wilshere recently departing the club.
Tottenham’s interest on the other hand seems to be gaining momentum as a result of speculation over the future of Belgium international Mousa Dembele who has been linked with a move away from the club.
The driving midfielder is a key player for Spurs and losing him this summer would leave manager Mauricio Pochettino with a big void to fill with N’Zonzi cited as a potential replacement.
The north London duo are named in the report by AS as two of three clubs interested in signing N’Zonzi, but Sevilla aren’t willing to allow him to leave on the cheap given his importance to the club.
The 29-year-old joined the Spanish side from Stoke City in the summer of 2015, going on to make more than 130 appearances in all competitions while consolidating his place in the French national side.
