Manchester United will look to strengthen the squad this summer.

According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho will have £200 million to strengthen Manchester United’s squad this summer as the club looks to make a serious bid to win the Premier League title next season.

The report claims that Mourinho will be handed a three year deal worth around £30 million, and he will be tasked with taking United back to the top following a three-year title drought.

Louis van Gaal’s contract is to be terminated a year early to make way for Mourinho, and the Portuguese coach will be keen to get started as soon as possible with plenty of work ahead.

The Red Devils have a big squad with a number of promising young players, yet there is a distinct lack of genuine world class ability in a number of key areas and that could change this summer.

Mourinho will want to sort out the club’s long-standing midfield problem, and aside from one or two expected additions there could be a few casualties along the way in terms of potential sales.

The report cites £200 million as the figure Mourinho will be given to spend this summer, a sizeable figure which will no doubt allow the club to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for Europe’s best.
