Derby County have been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Matt Clarke.

According to The Argus, Brighton and Hove Albion defender Matt Clarke is set for a medical at Derby County ahead of a season-long loan move to Pride Park.
The report claims Clarke is expected to be at Derby’s training ground Moor Farm for a medical shortly while Brighton look at sealing a deal in the region of £20 million for Bristol City’s Adam Webster.
Clarke only joined Brighton this summer, moving from League One side Portsmouth.
The Seagulls may feel the jump from League One to the Premier League is too sudden for the central defender, and a season out on loan in the Championship will further aid his development.
Derby are on the lookout for a new central defender following Fikayo Tomori’s exit this summer.
Tomori returned to parent club Chelsea following a season on loan at Derby, and the Rams will miss his presence with the popular defender winning the club’s Player of the Year award last term.

Clarke is left-footed and will complement Richard Keogh well at the back for the Rams. George Evans has filled in the role during pre-season, yet the former Reading man is predominantly a holding midfielder.
New manager Phillip Cocu has only had a few weeks to work with his Derby squad, and Clarke is likely to be one of a few new additions ahead of deadline day as the Rams seek to strengthen for another top six push.
