Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool in January.

According to a report by AS, Barcelona are preparing to send £4.5 million to Liverpool because of a clause in the deal for the sale of Philippe Coutinho requires payment of this sum after the midfielder has reached 25 games for the Spanish club. Coutinho reached the 25 match target during his side’s 1-0 win over Real Valladolid last weekend
The Brazilian ace traded Liverpool for Barca back in January for an initial 120 million euros [£107m], although that figure could reach 160 million euros [roughly £143m] depending on sporting objectives.
The Spanish report goes on to say that other potential cash triggers for Liverpool include winning the Champions League, qualifying for successive Champions Leagues, and finally making 100 appearances for the Catalans.
With the quality at the Nou Camp, it is expected Liverpool will eventually receive the full amount for Coutinho’s sale.
The former Inter Milan playmaker was a popular figure at Anfield, but with the club struggling to mount a proper challenge for both the Premier League and the Champions League, the time had come to move on.

Coutinho has enjoyed a decent start in Spain, scoring 11 goals in all competitions and helping the Catalans win La Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
The 26-year-old has the best years of his career still ahead of him, and with Barca legend Andreas Iniesta departing the club in the summer, Coutinho can now take on extra creative responsibility in midfield.
