According to a report by Sky Sports, Lille are in talks to sign Swansea City captain Leroy Fer.

The 29-year-old joined the Swans from Queens Park Rangers in 2016 for a reported £8 million fee, and he has been an almost ever-present, sticking with the club after their relegation last May.

Fer has made 23 appearances for the Welsh side this term, scoring one and providing two assists.

But with his contract running out at the end of the season, Swansea may feel they are better off selling him now for a cheaper fee rather than losing him for free in the summer.

Sky Sports claims Turkish side Fenerbahce are also keen on his signature, but Lille, currently placed second behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, have opened dialogue over a move to the French club.

Capped by the Netherlands, Fer has been a top player for Swansea but under new manager Graham Potter, the Welsh side are planning for long-term success and seemingly looking to develop younger players.

Swansea are currently sitting in 11th spot in the Championship table, six points adrift of the top six. Losing the experienced Fer now could hinder their chances of making the playoffs come May.
