Everton are keen on adding Steve Walsh to their backroom staff.
According to Sky Sports (live transfer thread, July 18th 2016 at 18:57), Leicester City have turned down Everton’s approach to bring in Steve Walsh as their new director of football.
The report claims that the Foxes are determined to keep Walsh after he signed a new contract only two months ago, yet the current head of recruitment wants to discuss terms with the Toffees.
Leicester’s Premier League title success last season prompted huge amounts of plaudits going the way of boss Claudio Ranieri and his star players for their incredible achievement.
Yet, one man who is just as important behind the scenes is Steve Walsh, the club’s head of recruitment responsible for bringing in the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante.
The 51-year-old clearly has an eye for talent, and his transfer dealings over the past few seasons has been nothing short of brilliant considering the club’s rapid rise to the top.
Everton, now under the guidance of newly-appointed manager Ronald Koeman, have been extremely quiet in the transfer market so far this summer despite Farhad Moshiri’s promise to back them heavily.
The Merseyside club may be struggling to find value for money amid their new wealth, and as a result bringing in Walsh could be a decisive move on their part to get the ball rolling in the transfer market.
The report goes on to say that the promotion to director of football interests Walsh, and a switch to Everton would seemingly see him move closer to his family.
