Leicester City’s Harry Maguire has been superb at the World Cup so far.

According to a report in the Mirror (live transfer thread, July 8th at 14:44), Leicester City are poised to hold contract talks with Harry Maguire with a payrise in mind following his impressive summer in Russia.
The former Hull City man has been one of England’s outstanding performers thus far and showed his capabilities as a goal scoring defender by giving the Three Lions the lead in their 2-0 quarter-final win over Sweden.
Maguire’s performances in Russia certainly haven’t gone unnoticed as a recent report in the Guardian claims Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is now keen on signing the player.

Leicester were reportedly only willing to listen to offers in excess of £50 million for Maguire, with a report in The Sun in April suggesting trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested.
But Maguire’s excellent performances for England over the past fortnight may have now prompted the Foxes to rethink their position on their star defender, with a new contract in the pipeline.
The former Sheffield United academy graduate has only been at the club for 12 months, but his rapid progression could see him join fellow England star Jamie Vardy as the club’s most valuable assets after Riyad Mahrez.

The Mirror claims Maguire already earns a decent salary of close to £5 million per year, but Premier League riches are allowing clubs to stretch their budgets and increase spending in terms of fees and wages.
At 25 years of age, the Leicester ace has enormous potential and years ahead of him at the very top level therefore the east Midlands club would be wise to do all they can to secure his long-term future at the King Power Stadium.
