Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele had been heavily linked with Inter Milan.
According to Premium Sport, Inter Milan have moved on from Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele and will now try and conclude a deal for Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes.
The report claims that Spurs had no interest in budging on their £18 million asking price, despite Dembele turning 31 soon and having just one year left to run on his contact at White Hart Lane. Furthermore, it has also been reported elsewhere in The Sun that Dembele has snubbed a move to Inter.
Premium Sport also claim the Serie A club were seeking some sort of paid loan deal to begin with, but Tottenham were only willing to sell the Belgium outright prompting the Italian giants to move on elsewhere.
Dembele has been one of Tottenham’s standout players over the past few seasons, helping Mauricio Pochettino’s men notch up three consecutive top three Premier League finishes.
Spurs won’t want to see their dominant central midfielder leave the club this summer, but a recent report in the Daily Mail claims the player is seeking an exit as he struggles to deal with a long, hard season and the physical demands of the Premier League.
The former AZ man joined Tottenham from Fulham in 2012, and he has since gone on to play over 230 times for the north London club in all competitions, scoring a total of ten goals.
Tottenham have yet to sign anybody this summer, but they have managed to tie down the likes of Karry Kane and Davinson Sanchez to new deals, while Harry Winks has also agreed on an extension.
Perhaps Pochettino feels Winks can be Dembele’s long-term replacement at the club, but ideally, he may want to keep the Belgian for one more season with Winks only 22 and still having much to learn.
