Inter Milan have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan have raised the cash needed to conclude a deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele.
The Italian side were pushing close to the Financial Fair Play limit and seemingly had already spent a chunk of their summer transfer budget with the acquisition of Radja Nainggolan from fellow Serie A side Roma.
But the Gazzetta report that with the aid of Champions League football and cash received via recent player sales, Inter can now stretch their budget this summer and reach a deal financially for Tottenham’s Dembele.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with an exit from White Hart Lane this summer, despite being one of the club’s most influential players over the past 12 months.
A recent report in the Daily Mail claims Dembele is seeking an exit from Spurs as a result of struggling with the physical demands of a long Premier League campaign, with the player turning 31 later this month.
Dembele is a real engine in Spurs’ midfield and has the ability to drive from midfield with the ball at his feet. Should he leave this summer, he will leave a big void to fill in Tottenham’s starting XI.
Mauricio Pochettino has already spoken of the importance of the former Fulham man, but with the player’s heart seemingly set on a move it could be difficult to convince him to remain in north London.
Dembele featured 40 times for Spurs last term and has so far impressed at the World Cup for Belgium. In the slower-paced Italian league, he could be a real hit for Inter should he move to the Italian giants.
