Hull City, Reading and Preston North End have been linked with Bristol Rovers ace Jonson Clarke-Harris.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Hull City have joined Reading and Preston North End in the race to sign Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.
The report claims a clutch of Championship clubs are tracking the 24-year-old following his impressive run of form which has taken his goal tally to 16 for the season.
Clarke-Harris only joined Bristol Rovers from Coventry during the January transfer window, but nine goals in his last nine games have earned him rave reviews ahead of the summer.
Bristol Rovers have slumped down the League One table and sit just five points above the relegation zone, and a drop down to League Two would make a transfer at the end of the season even more plausible.
Hull will be on the lookout for a new striker this summer with several players set to depart the KCOM Stadium. Will Keane and Fraizer Campbell are both out of contract, while fellow forward Chris Martin is only on loan.
Manager Nigel Adkins will be aware of Hull’s financial situation and he may find his best chances of improving the squad this summer will be to take gambles on lower league players showing plenty of potential.
Preston and Reading are two other sides who won’t have the financial backing to compete with teams such as Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, so they too could look to the lower league.
Reading signed last season’s outstanding lower league striker Marc McNulty last summer, but the Scotland international has had a disappointing campaign and is currently out on loan north of the border.
