Derby County were linked with Reading’s Mo Barrow.
According to Get Reading, Derby County held talks with Reading earlier this week over the possibility of signing attacker Mo Barrow but they dropped their interest after failing to meet the club’s asking price.
The report states Reading want to keep hold of Barrow, but the player could still leave the Madejski Stadium this month with three foreign teams looking to bring him in.
Derby made their intentions clear heading into deadline day. Manager Phillip Cocu wanted to bring in another wide player, ideally someone who can play on the right wing and cut inside.
Several names were doing the rounds, but it was ultimately Bristol City’s Jamie Paterson who arrived at Pride Park – joining the Rams on a season-long loan deal.
Paterson evidently wasn’t Derby’s first choice winger this summer. The player admitted to Rams TV that the move only came about on deadline day as he got the call in the morning.
Derby would have weighed up their options this week and Get Reading claim Barrow was considered.
The 26-year-old was signed by Jaap Stam, joining the Royals in August 2017. He has been a decent player for the club, scoring 14 goals and grabbing ten assists in 63 Championship starts.
Barrow started Reading’s opening game against Sheffield Wednesday. He is capable of playing on either wing, and he seems like the sort of versatile player Rams boss Phillip Cocu would have worked well with.
