Roma’s Maxime Gonalons has been linked with both Crystal Palace and Everton.

According to a report by Il Romanista, Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons has turned down three Premier League clubs – with two of those potentially being Crystal Palace and Everton.

The Italian report claims the player is willing to remain at Roma and fight for a place in the starting eleven, having already rejected the advances of three English top-fight clubs. Having said this, a return to France hasn’t been ruled out.

Gonalons has been the subject of a reported £8.9 million bid from Crystal Palace (Sky Sports), therefore it’s thought likely the Eagles are one of the clubs the former Lyon man has turned down.

Crystal Palace have since signed midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate from West Ham United, suggesting Gonalons could have been seen as an alternative plan B had a deal for the former Hammers man fallen through or vice-versa.

Another club heavily linked with the 29-year-old Roma ace this summer is Marco Silva’s Everton, with Calciomercato and the Mirror both reporting the Toffees’ interest in the player.

Everton have lost experience this summer with Wayne Rooney and Ashley Williams departing the club, while ageing stars Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines appear ready to be phased out.

Perhaps Silva was looking to add some experience to his new-look younger Everton squad, and Gonalons was cited as the ideal player to provide the steel in midfield.

The Roma ace is versatile, capable of playing both in defence and in midfield. He could have made a solid acquisition for Everton, though it now appears he has little interest in a move to England despite only making 12 Serie A starts for the Eternal City club last term.
