Blackburn Rovers’ Joe Nuttall has been in excellent form for the U23 side.
According to a report in the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers youngster Joe Nuttall could depart Ewood Park on loan in January, although it may depend on the club bringing in another striker first.
The report claims Nuttall has caught the attention of several League One and League Two sides following his excellent form for Rovers’ U23s, with teams seeking a loan deal until the end of the season.
Nuttall has yet to feature for the Rovers first-team this season, although he was named as a substitute during the Lancashire side’s recent 4-2 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The 21-year-old has been in startling form for the youth team of late, scoring eight goals in his last four games including a brace against Arsenal in their recent Premier League 2 clash.
Nuttall joined Blackburn originally on trial after leaving Aberdeen in the summer of 2017, and he later signed a long-term deal at Ewood Park last January.
Alongside Brad Lyons, Nuttall is arguably the standout youngster on Blackburn’s books and the striker has plenty of potential. Now could be the ideal time to give him proper first-team experience out on loan.
But boss Tony Mowbray will be aware that Blackburn do not have the biggest of squads in the Championship, and fellow striker Bradley Dack could be the subject of intense interest during the January transfer window.
Ben Brereton, Adam Armstrong and Danny Graham are all other forward options but, with the latter turning 34 next summer, the former Middlesbrough man is not exactly in Rovers’ long-term plans.
