Manchester City have been linked with Millwall youngster Samuel Edozie.

According to a report in the South London Press, Manchester City are set to sign Millwall youngster Samuel Edozie for a compensation fee which could end up reaching seven figures.

It is claimed Chelsea were also keen on the young winger, but City have won the race and The Lions could now scoop more than £1 million should the 16-year-old make an impact at the Etihad Stadium.

Millwall have a recent history of producing top prospects and seeing them leave before making a first-team appearances.

Last November 15-year-old Darko Gyabi also moved to Manchester, joining City’s near rivals United in another deal which could see Millwall pocket more than £1 million depending on future achievements.

Edozie is considered a top prospect at The Den but the youngster leaving now could help Millwall manager Neil Harris in the short-term as he looks to re-build his squad this summer.

Millwall will make a new goalkeeper a top priority after David Martin made a surprise move to West Ham United, while Jordan Archer will leave at the end of his contract and Ben Amos returned to Bolton Wanderers following his loan spell.

The Lions struggled this past season as they finished just one place above the relegation zone. Without investment this summer, they could be in for another struggle next season.

City, meanwhile, will see Edozie as a potential future star and beating Chelsea to his signature now is further proof that the Citizens are now becoming the new dominant force in the Premier League.
