The report claims that the Cherries are on the lookout for a new defender to fill the void left by Tommy Elphick following his switch to Aston Villa, and Evans is regarded as an ideal candidate.
Evans only joined West Brom in a £6 million deal from Manchester United 12 months ago, and he enjoyed a solid campaign at the Hawthorns as the Baggies comfortably finished in midtable.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis will be keen to keep hold of his leading players this summer, yet Bournemouth are ambitious and have already bolstered their ranks with the £15 million addition of Jordon Ibe.
The Cherries are strong in attack, competent in wide areas yet somewhat weak at the back and boss Eddie Howe’s next top priority will be a leading centre-back to replace Elphick.
Evans is extremely experienced, comfortable with the ball at his feet and a real leader – playing a pivotal role in Northern Ireland’s run to the European Championships and ensuing success in France.
The 28-year-old made 30 Premier League starts for the Baggies last season, averaging an impressive 2.4 tackles, three interceptions and 3.4 effective clearances per league encounter.
Bournemouth may have to pay a rather large fee in order to prise him away from the West Midlands, yet the south coast club aren’t afraid to spend the cash and may feel Evans is a worthwhile investment.
