Southampton and Bournemouth have been linked with Swansea City’s Daniel James.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Southampton and Bournemouth have joined a host of clubs tracking Swansea City winger Daniel James, who almost signed for Leeds United in the January transfer window.
The Wales international has been in superb form for the Swans this season, scoring two Championship goals and grabbing a further four assists as a queue of clubs line up to watch him in action this term.
Leeds thought they signed the player in January as they reportedly agreed an £8.5 million fee with Swansea, yet the Telegraph report how the Swans pulled the plug late in the transfer window.
The decision to prevent James to move to Elland Road now seems like a masterstroke as the winger’s reputation continues to grow. In the recent FA Cup win over Brentford, the 20-year-old netted a wonder goal.
Bournemouth and Southampton are not the only Premier League clubs credited with an interest in James, as the Sun claim Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is also keeping a keen eye on him.
Leeds are said to retain their interest in James and will look to make a second attempt to sign him this summer, but their opportunity may now have passed with top-flight clubs joining them in their pursuit.

Bournemouth have a good record of buying young players from the Championship and giving them opportunities. Former Leeds ace Lewis Cook is a fixture for the Cherries, while David Brooks and Chris Mepham were both second-tier players last term.
Southampton are another club who offer young players a chance in the top flight, although the Saints may have to hold off on summer transfer plans for now until their Premier League safety is assured.
