Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland are allegedly keen on signing Bradford City’s Charlie Wyke.

According to a report in the Mirror (live transfer blog, July 26 at 18:12), Bolton Wanderers have joined Sunderland in the race to sign Bradford City’s in-form striker Charlie Wyke.
The Black Cats have been linked with the 25-year-old striker for much of the summer, with a recent report in the Northern Echo claiming the League One club have lodged a new seven-figure bid for him.
Wyke has been impressive since joining Bradford from Carlisle United in January 2017, scoring 23 goals in 62 games for the Bantams as they challenged for the League One play-offs last season.
Sunderland will be hoping to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt following their shock relegation to League One, and they have been busy in the transfer market this summer.
Newly-appointed manager Jack Ross has seen the likes of Tom Flanagan, Glenn Loovens, Reece James, Dylan McGeouch and Chris Maguire arrive among others, but Wyke appears to be his number one striker target.
Sunderland, however, are not the only club seeking a deal for the Bradford man as the Mirror reports that Championship club Bolton Wanderers are also keen as the Trotters look to bolster their squad.

Phil Parkinson’s men narrowly avoided the drop last term and, in a bid to prevent a similar struggling season, the Trotters have been busy this summer with as many as eight new arrivals at the Macron Stadium.
Wyke, though, would be their most expensive of the lot and it appears Bradford are not willing to allow the former Middlesbrough trainee to leave on the cheap as they seek to retain their star player.
