Arsenal have been linked with Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski.

According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal are wiling to meet Piotr Zielinski’s 65 million euros release clause (£57.3 million) to prise the midfielder away from Italian side Napoli.

The Italian publication goes on to say that the Poland international midfielder is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, although they may have to make their move quickly as Napoli plan to offer him a new contract.

Zielinski moved to Naples from Udinese in 2016 and he has since become an important member of the squad as Maurizio Sarri’s men looked to end Juventus’s stranglehold on Italian football.

The Poland international is an attack-minded player comfortable of operating in various positions behind the centre-forward, and Napoli boss Sarri has made the most of his versatility over the course of the campaign.

He has featured in 34 Serie A games thus far, although with only four goals and two assists to his name he has not had the most prolific of campaigns. Despite that, there is certainly more to come from the player.

Arsenal are set for change this summer with long-standing boss Arsene Wenger stepping aside, and it will be interesting to see which new manager comes in and whether he will make big changes to the playing squad.

The Gunners broke their transfer record in January with the addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but meeting Zielinski’s release clause will see them surpass that fee.

Arsenal have struggled this season and their away form in the Premier League in 2018 has been dire, so there is no doubt they need an injection of quality and money spent on fresh faces.

Zielinski boasts plenty of potential and signing him would give Arsenal more options in attack as they look to find a way to get the best out of the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
