Fulham’s on loan forward Aleksandar Mitrovic looks increasingly like the player most likely to impact the club’s race for promotion.
Queens Park Rangers striker Matt Smith has singled out on loan Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic as a player with Premier League quality, and a key figure in the Cottagers’ promotion push. Smith features on QPR’s website in a Twitter question and answer session.
The Serbia international joined Fulham from Newcastle United in January on a loan deal which will see him remain at Craven Cottage until the end of the current campaign. His arrival has coincided with the West London club’s strong run form. Prior to Fulham’s derby clash with QPR, Mitrovic had netted an impressive seven goals in his last five outings.

Responding to fans’ questions, QPR striker Smith singled out Mitrovic as the dangerman for specific mention.
“He’s a big, physical striker who would be a handful for any defence this year. He is Premier League quality, I don’t think there is any doubt abut that. That could the final piece of the puzzle so to speak that could see them over the line. I certainly think he will be a key signing for them,” Smith explained.

Mitrovic struggled to make an impact at Newcastle since joining the club three seasons ago, but so far at Fulham he is a different class. His arrival has given Slavisa Jokanovic’s side a focal point upfront, and aside from his goals, his presence allows the likes of Stefan Johansen and Tom Cairney to push further forward and be more creative.

QPR, however, managed to halt Fulham’s winning run on Saturday – as they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. Those two points dropped probably mean that Fulham are now too far behind the automatic promotion places, but the playoffs are odds-on – and, in current form, you wouldn’t bet again Fulham returning to the Premier League next season.
