Rangers defeated Kilmarnock 3-1 in the Betfred Cup Sunday.

Former striker Steven Thompson says manager Steven Gerrard is the reason behind Alfredo Morelos’s upturn in form, as he praised the Rangers manager’s impressive man-management skills, the BBC report.
Gerrard arrived at Rangers in the summer with many expecting the former Liverpool man to take his time bedding in his ideas at Ibrox considering it’s his first managerial job.
But an unbeaten start to the season, and progression in the Europa League, has already highlighted Gerrard’s aptitude for the job.
Reporting for the BBC, former Rangers man Thompson believes the improvement from the Gers, both individually and collectively, is a result of Gerrard’s man-management skills.
“Gerrard has transformed these players. Morelos has his faults, but he is a player just now playing full of confidence. And that confidence has been given to him by his manager. You can’t help but be impressed by the impact Steven Gerrard has had. His man-management of these players is very impressive,” he said.
According to a report in the Herald Scotland, Rangers turned down a bid of £3.75 million for Morelos from French side Bordeaux during the summer transfer window.
Gerrard has since come out and suggested replacing the Colombian striker could cost the Scottish Premiership club an eight-figure fee, telling the Herald Scotland he is worth around £11 million.
