Matthew Pennington joined Ipswich Town in August from Everton on a season-long loan.

Ipswich Town supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on the performance of Everton-owned Matthew Pennington, as he put in a superb shift during the Tractor Boys’ 1-1 draw with Preston North End.
The Suffolk side were making their first appearance under new manager Paul Lambert and they would have targeted the home clash with struggling Preston as a chance to gain a much-needed win.
A Freddie Sears penalty put Ipswich on their way, Lthough Preston bounced back in the second half and could have even won the game had it not been for Pennington’s heroics.
The Everton-owned youngster produced an excellent goal-saving tackle, prompting Ipswich fans to sing his praises after the game.
Here Are a selection of the best comments:
24-year-old Pennington came through the Everton youth ranks, but has barely featured for the Toffees’ first-team squad, making just seven Premier League appearances for the Merseyside club.
Pennington has spent most of his short career out on loan, enjoying spells at Tranmere Rovers, Coventry City and Walsall before joining Leeds United in the Championship last season.

Now at Ipswich, he will be hoping to help the Tractor Boys move away from the relegation zone. The Portman Road club are rooted to the bottom of the Championship, five points adrift of safety. Next week they travel to fellow strugglers Reading in a hugely important fixture – a proverbial 6 pointer.
