Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Bordeaux’s Malcom.
Bordeaux boss Gus poyet has told Spanish publication Marca that star player Malcom will move to the Premier League ‘sooner or later’ as both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur eye his signature.
A report in the Sun claimed the Gunners and Spurs were leading the way for his signature, though any move during the January transfer window was unlikely with Bordeaux wanting to hold out until the summer.
The 20-year-old has been showing excellent promise in Ligue 1 this term, scoring an impressive eight goals and chipping in with a further six assists in only 23 top-flight appearances.
Speaking to Spanish reporters, Poyet admits he is a special talent but concedes the player will leave soon with the Premier League his most likely destination.
“He is a special player who can win matches on his own,” Poyet told Marca.
“He is often double-marked because his talent is that special, and in January we were nervous because we almost lost him to the Premier League.
“We must prepare for this because sooner or later he will leave.”
Tottenham managed to add to their attacking ranks with the arrival of Lucas Moura in January, but Malcom is exactly the sort of player boss Mauricio Pochettino seeks considering his enormous potential.
The Brazilian U23 international joined the French side in January 2016, and he has quickly established himself as one of the most promising players in the country with plenty of skill and endeavour.
Arsenal need to freshen up their attacking options with some youth to compliment the experienced Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, so Malcom represents a fine choice.
But given a choice between the two, Tottenham are emerging as the more desirable option and the importance of champions League football could play a key role in deciding his future destination.
