Spanish goalkeepers Adrian and David de Gea shared a laugh at full-time.
West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian was snapped sharing a joke with Manchester United’s David de Gea following their encounter at Upton Park yesterday.
The two Spanish goalkeepers faced off for the second time this season as the Hammers entertained the Red Devils in Sunday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.
It looked for long periods that the hosts would claim the three points after Cheikhou Kouyate’s sublime second-half opener, however United’s Danny Blind rescued the visitors with a 93rd-minute equaliser.
The result was harsh on the hosts, as they appeared more comfortable on the ball and tested de Gea in the visitors’ net.
| Goals Conceded | Saves | Claims From Crosses | Keeper Pick Ups | Goal Kicks | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adrián | 1 | 5 | 2 | 5 | 12 | 90 |
| David de Gea | 1 | 5 | 2 | 8 | 10 | 90 |
As per the table provided by Opta Stats, both goalkeepers were worked equally by the opposition, making five saves each and claiming two crosses.
The Red Devils’ number one did have to claim more attempted through balls from the hosts, whereas Adrian was tasked with taking slightly more goal-kicks – especially towards the end.
Former Betis star Adrian has never been capped at international level, and given Spain’s immense competition for places in the goalkeeping department that doesn’t come as a surprise.
De Gea, on the other hand, has recently taken over from Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas as his country’s number one and has all the tools to go on and establish himself there for the next 10 years at least.
