Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell took to Instagram to post his Olympiakos celebratory photos.
In a season where Arsenal are once again left behind in the Premier League title race, one player however has become a league champion.
21-year-old Costa Rican international striker Joel Campbell is one of Arsenal’s most talked-about players, despite never having actually made a first-team appearance for the club.
As a result of not being granted a work permit when he first signed for Arsenal, Campbell had a number of loan spells abroad before finally receiving the green light to represent the Gunners in the summer of 2013.
The youngster, however, was once again farmed out before representing Arsene Wenger’s men, this time to Greek giants Olympiakos.
He has endured an excellent campaign, helping the Greeks win the league with ease and qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.
It was in the Greek side’s Champions League tie with Manchester United where Campbell showed his promise as he terrorised United’s backline, scoring a beautiful long-range goal in the first leg in Greece.
With Arsenal supporters having doubts whether current strikers Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo can take the North Londoners to the next level, there have been calls for Joel Campbell to be given a shot next season.
Following Olympiakos’ final day 1-0 victory over Apollon Smirnis, Joel Campbell paraded the pitch with his teammates and the trophy to the sound of the jubilant Olympiakos faithful, something he will wish to repeat at the Emirates stadium in the not too distant future.
