Ipswich Town must strengthen in the January transfer window.

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert remained coy when asked whether Stoke City duo Peter Crouch and Charlie Adam are on his radar ahead of the January transfer window, East Anglian Daily Times report.
“They are two good guys and I have no problem with either of them but they are ones that, because I’m an ex-Stoke manager, they are unfair to talk about,” Lambert explained.
“There are players we’ve identified to try and get. Ideally you want ones who know this league and that’s what I’m looking at because we need a bit more experience.”
Ipswich currently find themselves eight points adrift of Championship safety after recording just one league win all season. January can’t come quick enough for newly-appointed manager Paul Lambert.
The Scot was in charge of Stoke City for the latter stages of last season as he failed to keep the Potters in the Premier League, and two players he knows well are Crouch and Adam.
Both find themselves out of favour under new Stoke manager Gary Rowett, and they fit the bill in terms of the type of player Lambert is looking to sign for Ipswich – knowledgeable of the Championship having featured at this level before.

Crouch, 37, has started just twice for Stoke this season. He would be an ideal target man for Ipswich, with fellow attacker Freddie Sears given licence to play off him. Crouch’s contract expires next summer, therefore Stoke could be willing to let him go on the cheap in January.
Adam, meanwhile, is another with his contract expiring next summer and after making just three substitute appearances this term, the 33-year-old is probably itching for regular first-team football.
