Derby County lost 0-3 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Derby County supporters have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of winger Tom Lawrence, after he put in a poor display during his side’s crushing 3-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa.
The Rams headed into the clash with Villa in sparkling form, taking 12 points from their last six games – which included comprehensive victories over West Bromwich Albion and an in-form Birmingham City.
But against the Villans the home side rarely got going, and Villa squandered several decent opportunities prior to scoring three times in the final 15 minutes to give new manager Dean Smith his best win so far as Aston Villa boss.
Taking to Twitter, some Derby fans were unimpressed by Lawrence’s role and heavily criticised his display:
Lawrence, a Wales international, was signed by former Derby County manager Gary Rowett in the summer of 2017 from fellow east Midlands side Leicester City for a reported initial £5 million fee (BBC).
The 24-year-old has plenty of talent, but like any young Championship winger he blows hot and cold, with some of his performances this season earning plaudits from the club’s supporters.

Lawrence has, however, had his bad moments – with the sending off at Rotherham United leading to a Rams defeat – and against Villa he had another one of those days where nothing came off, and he looked disinterested. Lawrence managed a pass-accuracy rate of just 53%, while with three unsuccessful touches (Whoscored) he was Derby’s weakest player in possession.
