Nottingham Forest should move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Beram Kayal.

Nottingham Forest are in need of bolstering their midfield ranks this summer, and one player who could make a big difference at the City Ground is Brighton and Hove Albion ace Beram Kayal.

The Reds have struggled for form of late, with their most recent 2-1 win over Ipswich Town ending a run of six games without finding the back of the net – their second worst goal-scoring run in recent history.

Aitor Karanka has made several changes to the team since taking over from the sacked Mark Warburton, bringing in as many as seven fresh faces on deadline day at the end of January.

While defensively they have improved, Forest’s lack of mobility in the middle of the pitch has caused them problems when trying to break up play, move the ball quickly and spring quick counterattacks.

The likes of Liam Bridcutt, Adlene Guedioura, Jack Colback and Ben Watson have all featured in central midfield in recent months, but none possess a lot of mobility while the latter turns 33 this summer.

Forest need to freshen things up, and one player who could make a telling difference is Brighton’s Kayal.

The Israel international has been on the fringes of Brighton’s first-team this season, starting just six Premier League fixtures with his latest coming in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Seagulls have fellow midfield options in Pascal Gross, Dale Stephens and record signing Davy Propper and, with their Premier League survival all-but assured, they will strengthen again this summer.

Kayal may find himself completely out of the picture with Brighton happy to let him go, and at 29 he may feel he has it in him for another promotion challenge with the right club back in the Championship.

Karanka certainly likes to have experience in the middle, as shown with duo Adam Clayton and Grant Leadbitter at Middlesbrough, and Kayal no doubt fits the profile to give Forest a huge lift.

The holding midfielder is capable of contributing in the final third, scoring two goals and grabbing seven assists for Brighton in the 2015/16 campaign, while he averaged an impressive 3.2 tackles per game.
