Norwich City have been linked with Roma’s Robin Olsen.

According to a report in Calciomercato, Norwich City are interested in signing Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen this summer with the Italian giants ready to let him leave for less than 15 million euros [£12.8 million].
The rumour itself is bizarre. Firstly, Norwich are currently in the Championship and, despite being top with just seven games to go, promotion to the Premier League is not a foregone conclusion.
Moreover, the Canaries have operated under a strict transfer budget under manager Daniel Farke. The squad has mainly been built up on cheap deals and academy players, with top scorer Teemu Pukki a free transfer.
The fee mentioned does not fall in line with Norwich’s spending since Farke joined the club, and at 29 the goalkeeper doesn’t exactly have the potential and importance to Norwich to command such a figure.
Olsen has made 27 Serie A starts for the club this season, taking over the number one spot from Alisson who joined Liverpool in a then world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper.
It would seem strange for Roma to seem to want to sell after just one season as the club’s number one.

But what could ultimately quash this rumour from Norwich’s perspective is the confirmed new deal handed out to Northern Ireland international Michael McGovern.
The 34-year-old has been back-up to regular number one Tim Krul this season. He originally joined the Canaries in 2016 and was signed by Farke’s predecessor Alan Neil who worked with him at Hamilton.
McGovern is a reliable shot-stopper and, with his previous contract set to expire in the summer, he now looks set to cover Krul for another season while playing a supporting role to some of the younger stars.
