Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been linked with Norwich City’s Ben Godfrey.

Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber says none of the club’s top players are pushing for an exit as Tottenham Hotspur reportedly become the latest to be keen on Ben Godfrey, Eastern Daily Press report.

“All the conversations that I’ve had with them as individuals and their agents, there’s no pushing from them. You can never say never. If one of the huge boys comes in then that conversation might change from their side or whatever,” Webber responded following reports of Tottenham’s interest in Ben Godfrey.

“There might be some players who outgrow us and ‘Man United want them, or Liverpool’ or whatever and actually we can’t compete with that because that’s the Champions League and the biggest clubs in the world. But if you take this year, it’s almost like, why would you leave?”

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday how Tottenham are rivalling Manchester United for the signature of Godfrey. The 21-year-old’s stock has risen over the past 12 months after his breakthrough campaign.

It is said that Godfrey, capable of performing in defence or midfield, has impressed Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who sees him as a potential mainstay in Tottenham’s midfield in the future.

Godfrey isn’t the only Norwich youngster making headlines. Jamal Lewis has impressed at left-back, while on the opposite flank, Max Aarons is widely regarded as one of the best young right-backs in the country.

The Norwich trio played key roles in the club’s Championship winning campaign this past season. The Canaries will be desperate to keep hold of them as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.

Players such as James Maddison, Josh Murphy and Nathan Redmond have all left Norwich for higher level football in recent years, but now the club seem in a stronger position to fend off interest in their best talents.
