Norwich City and Derby County have been linked with Rotherham United’s Will Vaulks.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, both Norwich City and Derby County are showing an interest in Rotherham United’s Will Vaulks following his impressive form this season.
The report claims the midfielder, who has just 18 months to run on his contract, is valued at £1.5 million and the Millers may struggle to turn down January bids from the Championship’s bigger clubs.
Vaulks is having a decent campaign at Rotherham, scoring three goals and grabbing a further three assists despite predominantly being a holding midfield player.
While his performances have caught the eye, it comes as a surprise to see Norwich and Derby listed as the two clubs taking a keen interest as both have midfielders in abundance.
Norwich, currently sitting in the automatic promotion places with 44 points from 22 games, play with two central midfielders and four attack-minded players in-front of them.
Moritz Leitner has been one of the best midfielders in the Championship this season, while Alexander Tettey provides the steel alongside him with summer signing Tom Trybull an excellent back-up.
With Kenny McLean returning from injury and Louis Thompson an exciting academy prospect, manager Daniel Farke isn’t short on options and the Canaries certainly don’t lack balance in the middle of the park.

Derby, likewise, have several midfield options in Tom Huddlestone, Bradley Johnson, Craig Bryson, George Evans, George Thorne, loan star Mason Mount and even Harry Wilson can play through the middle.
The Rams even have the luxury of Jacob Butterfield playing for the U23 squad, such are their current options. But perhaps Frank Lampard has one eye on the future.
Bryson, Huddlestone and Johnson are all in their thirties and out of contract next summer, Mount and Wilson are only temporary options while question marks remain over Thorne’s fitness following several lengthy injuries.
Vaulks could be a good long-term option for Derby, though signing him now probably wouldn’t make much difference to their push for promotion back to the Premier League.
