Alex Bradley is without a club after being released by West Bromwich Albion but he won’t be heading to Burton Albion.
Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has told reporters his club have performed a U-turn on Alex Bradley as they pull out of a deal to sign the player following his release from West Bromwich Albion, the Derbyshire Telegraph reports.
“We’re not signing Alex [Bradley]. We’ve had a change of thought on that one, the circumstances with signing the three young players that we have done from the academy as well,” Clough explained.
“We’ve got a lot of young players in the squad at the moment, so unfortunately we can’t do anything with Alex either.”
Bradley came through the Baggies youth academy having joined the club as a seven-year-old and predominantly featured for the club’s U18 and U23 side.
The midfielder spent the first half of last season on loan in non-league, before joining Burton in January until the end of the season.
Bradley made seven appearances for the League One club, scoring one goal, and it was expected that the Brewers would sign him on a free transfer after West Brom decided not to extend his contract at The Hawthorns.
The 20-year-old, however, has now been left disappointed after Clough admitted Burton pulled out of a deal to bring him to the Pirelli Stadium, leaving Bradley facing an uncertain future.
West Brom will be looking to freshen up their squad this summer after missing out on promotion to the Premier League, but first they must name a permanent replacement for sacked manager Darren Moore.
