Hull City have been linked with Southampton’s Sam Gallagher.
Hull City manager Nigel Adkins says the club are looking to bring in another forward but refused to confirm whether his side have made an enquiry for Southampton’s Sam Gallagher, Hull Daily Mail reports.
“I was the manager at Southampton when Sam (Gallagher) was a young lad coming through so I was aware of him then and I’ve tracked his career, as I have done with a lot of players. He’s a talented footballer. We’re looking to bring another striker in, we’ve talked about that, so let’s see what materialises. I’m not saying we’ve made any enquiries at all,” Adkins explained.
Gallagher looks set for another loan spell away from Southampton after failing to break into the first-team squad at St. Mary’s.
With Hull allowing Will Keane to join Ipswich Town on loan, the Humberside club have space to add another striker to their ranks and Gallagher could be a sound option.
The 23-year-old has Championship experience, having had previous spells on loan at Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City, scoring a combined 17 league goals in 76 appearances.
Hull have the likes of Jarrod Bowe, Kamil Grosicki and Fraizer Campbell, who have fired in the goals during the club’s impressive five-game winning streak, but an injury to one of them could pose a problem.
Gallagher would provide competition either up front or in a wide attacking role at the KCOM Stadium and, with the Saints seemingly happy to loan him out, it is a move that could benefit all involved.
