Some Norwich City supporters have taken to Twitter to plead with the club to tie down defender Timm Klose to a new contract after announcing a new long-term deal for fellow defender Grant Hanley.

Hanley signed an initial deal until 2021 upon joining the Canaries, but the Norfolk club have opted to extend the 26-year-old’s stay by another two years keeping him until the summer of 2023.

While Hanley’s new contract is great news for Norwich, some supporters fear it could signal the beginning of the end for influential centre-back Klose whose own deal expires in just over seven months’ time.

The 30-year-old has been a key figure for the Canaries this season, and supporters are crossing their fingers he remains beyond this season with calls for the club to tie him down on a new deal.

Klose joined from Wolfsburg on a three-and-a-half-year deal in January 2016 and immediately became a big hit with supporters, winning a Premier League Player of the Month award soon after joining.

Despite the Canaries’ relegation to the Championship, the 16-capped Switzerland international has remained at Carrow Road and proven himself to be one of the best defenders outside the top-flight.
